Notice of Change of Submission Method for AY 2022 Spring Semester Master's Thesis/ Draft of PhD. Dissertation (Preliminary Examination) / Doctoral Dissertation

In order to prevent the ongoing spread of COVID-19, the Graduate School of Global Studies has decided to change the submission methods as follows.

■For second-year Master’s students and above

◎Change of methods to submit "Master's thesis or Seminar paper"
For those who plan to complete the program in September 2022
(Refer to the Student Handbook pp.121-134)

<Required Documents>
①Cover ②Abstract ③Table of Contents ④Thesis (Body text) ⑤Bibliography
⑥Certificate of Bookbinding fee payment (It costs 4,840 yen. The payment needs to be made at the automatic certificate issuing machine at Shikokan 1st floor before the submission.)
※Since those who submit seminar paper do not have to pay the bookbinding fee, they don’t need to submit ⑥.

<How to submit>
・Period for Submission: Wednesday, June 22nd, 2022 to Friday, July 1st, 2022
(during the office hours: 9 am to 11:30 am and 12:30 pm to 5 pm on weekdays)
・Master’s thesis: After going through the relevant pages of the Student Handbook, please bring 3 copies of ① to ⑤ bound in files, 2 (unbound) copies of ① to ⑤ and one of ⑥ to GS Office. All pages should be printed on one side only.
・Seminar Paper: After going through the relevant pages of the Student Handbook, please bring 2 copies of ① to ⑤ bound in files to GS Office. All pages should be printed on one side only.
・For students who are unable to attend face-to-face classes due to COVID-19 and are provided with special measures, they can send a set of all required documents by post.
・If the documents are sent by post, they must arrive at GS office by Friday, July 1st, 2022. Please note that you should send your documents by a traceable method.
・If you plan to come to GS office to hand them in, please complete the submission by 5:00 pm on Friday, July 1st, 2022.
・If you send the required documents by post, you can pay the bookbinding fee by transfer. We will let the applicable submitters know how to transfer the fee after we receive the required documents.

・Oral defenses may be conducted using an online conference system (ZOOM, etc.) depending on the situation.

■For third-year P.h.D students and above

◎Change of methods to submit "Draft of P.h.D dissertation" (Preliminary Examination)
For those who plan to complete the program in March 2023
(Refer to the Student Handbook p.150, p.156 or p.162)

<How to submit>
・After going through the relevant pages of the Student Handbook, please bring 4 copies of ④ bound in files and 1 copy of ① to ③ to GS Office.
・For students who are unable to attend face-to-face classes due to COVID-19 and are provided with special measures, they can send a set of all required documents by post.
・If the documents are sent by post, they must arrive at GS office by Tuesday, May 31st. Please note that you should send your documents by a traceable method. As for ①, you can skip the signature of your main advisor on it, but you must ask your main advisor to check your required documents and get the approval for submitting them.
・If you plan to come to GS office to hand them in, please complete the submission by 5:00 pm on Tuesday, May 31st.

<How to submit>
・Period for Submission: Friday, May 20th, 2022 to Tuesday, May 31st, 2022
(during the office hours: 9 am to 11:30 am and 12:30 pm to 5 pm on weekdays)
・After going through the relevant pages of the Student Handbook, please bring the necessary number of copies of ① to ⑧ to GS Office. (Please refer to the Student Handbook for the number of the copies you need to submit. The copies of ① needs to be bound in files.) All pages should be printed on one side only.
・For students who are unable to attend face-to-face classes due to COVID-19 and are provided with special measures, they can send a set of all required documents by post.
・If the documents are sent by post, they must arrive at GS office by Tuesday, May 31st.
